Our Work Life

Race City Flight Operations is excited to announce that its AMPED apprenticeship program is preparing to welcome a new cohort of aspiring aircraft mechanics on October 1.

The current class is already demonstrating the program's hands-on, career-focused approach with a series of truly remarkable projects that underscore the value of this certification. Students aren't just reading textbooks; they are applying their knowledge to real-world challenges that will define their future careers. In the Airframe Bucket, apprentices are meticulously working on complex structural repair projects, learning to identify and fix everything from minor dents to major fatigue issues. This isn't just about technical skill; it's about developing the critical eye and unwavering attention to detail that ensures flight safety. They are also getting their hands dirty with projects on avionics and electrical systems, ensuring that every wire and component is in perfect working order. The apprentices are also deeply immersed in the Power Plant Bucket, tackling the most crucial element of any aircraft: the engine. They are performing detailed engine overhauls, disassembling and inspecting components, and learning the intricate process of rebuilding powerplants to FAA standards. This hands-on experience is what sets the AMPED program apart, giving students an unparalleled understanding of engine operation and maintenance. The program's design ensures that every graduate is not only eligible to test for their A&P certification but is also job-ready and confident in their abilities. This is more than just a class; it's a launchpad for a rewarding career in aviation. The AMPED program at Race City Flight Operations transforms passion into a profession, with paid training progression available as students complete each bucket. With a new class starting October 1, now is the perfect time to trade the classroom for the hangar and start building your future.
