About Us
We value high quality flight instruction over quick instruction. Race City Flight Operations works to improve, innovate, and make a better environment and training program for our students. Our goal is to help create great and safe pilots instead of using the minimums as the completion standards. We believe, if they are taught to be great pilots, they will be safe and competent pilots months and years after their training.
Race City Flight Operations has been recognized for its high standard of accomplishment in flight training by The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the world’s largest aviation association. Race City Flight Operations has been awarded a spot on the Flight Training Experience Awards as a Distinguished Flight School, a title given to high scoring flight schools & instructors from the 2024 Flight Training Experience Survey.
The 2024 awards were drawn from flight students and pilots who voluntarily reviewed their flight training experience this past fall through an AOPA online customer satisfaction survey. The process yielded an evaluation of 780 different flight schools and 1,202 individual flight instructors.

Bernards Story 3: Eventually, I obtained my private pilot’s license and was hired as a flight instructor. I loved teaching others how to fly, and I was proud to help them achieve their dreams. Watching my students soar through the skies filled me with a sense of pride and accomplishment. After several years of instructing, I was finally hired by an airline. It was a dream come true, and I was overjoyed to have the opportunity to fly professionally. Over the years, I flew all over the world and had many incredible experiences, but the thrill of flight never faded.

Bernards Story 2: I worked hard and saved every penny I could to pay for my flight training. It was a long and challenging journey, but I was passionate and driven. I spent countless hours in the cockpit, learning the ins and outs of flying, and practicing all the different procedures and techniques. One of the biggest challenges I faced was learning to trust my instincts and overcome my fears. Flying can be a daunting experience, and it requires a great deal of focus and confidence. However, as I gained experience and became more comfortable in the cockpit, I learned to trust my instincts and make quick decisions in the air.

Bernards Story 4: One of the most memorable moments of my career was the day I was promoted to captain. I had worked hard and dedicated my life to my passion, and it was truly an honor to be recognized for my achievements. I will never forget the feeling of pride and accomplishment I felt as I sat in the captain’s seat for the first time. Throughout my career, I encountered many challenges and obstacles, but I never lost my love for flying. I always kept my focus on my goals and never gave up on my dreams. And, now that I am retired, I look back on my journey with great joy and satisfaction.
